Build it, they will come!
Most business owners have heard this impractical piece of advice one time or the other. Guess, you, too! If you had been in business for more than 5 years, you surely would have known that such a lazy idea doesn’t work!
You already have a website for your business, that’s a great step! But how would you attract local traffic/customers to your doorstep?
We have put together the following actionable procedures that you can undertake to increase the chances of drawing local customers to your products/services:
- Local SEO Optimization: Utilize local keywords and phrases like “best [service] in [your city name]” or “near me” in your meta descriptions, content, and titles. Make sure that your name, address, and phone number (NAP) are consistent in your website and directories. Create your business’ Google Business Profile and provide detailed information and regular updates about your products/services using great images.
- Localize Your Content: Use local content such as local news, events, neighborhood-specific information, stories, directions, etc. to achieve better visibility in your locality. Ask your local customers to leave feedback on your website while creating local case studies that showcase your great service in your community.
- Social Media Strategy: Use local hashtags in your social media posts. Promote local events and share pictures and stories about them using your official social media handles. Have partnerships with local social media influencers and celebrities and share their interactions with your products/services online.
- Paid Ads and Geo-targeting: Show Facebook/Instagram and Google ads only to people in your local area, targeting local customers by zip codes, demographics, and interests.
- Email Marketing: Offer local incentives, discounts, and freebies to draw local leads. Send them blogs and/or newsletters that will further educate them about your high-quality products/services.
You should understand that there is no one-size-fits-all in attracting loyal local customers to your business. You need to experiment with some of the approaches highlighted above, finetuning them all along the way.
